Goblins and Dungeons: Goblins in Minecraft

The designers of the Goblins and Dungeons mod did not bother much about its name and just called it the way they did, thus expressing the essence of this add-on. In short, this mod adds a large number of different goblins to the game, beginning with the smallest and fastest and ending with huge creatures and bosses that can kill the player in a few blows without letting them close. Besides, the new dungeons have been added, where you can find a lot of interesting loot, along with valuable and unique resources, as well as just get a lot of unforgettable impressions if the standard vanilla Minecraft is already making you a bit tired.

The List of New Goblins in Minecraft

The Goblins and Dungeons mod adds a huge number of mobs, so we have decided to consider each one individually so that you can understand how they differ from each other, where they live, and what weapons and tactics they apply against players. It is a huge universe where every goblin lives on its own and performs certain tasks. So, if you decide to install this add-on, you need to understand what you will have to face.

Gob

Gobs are the standard and simplest among all the other new mobs and are armed with stone swords. They are equipped with leather armor and thus do not pose a particular danger to the player. However, they keep mostly in a group, so it is not easy to fight them.

They inflict a lot of damage, most often while jumping. As soon as the player approaches the gobs, they immediately start attacking. They drop nuggets and sometimes stone swords.

Goblo

It is an interesting-looking and unusual mob that moves slowly and constantly opens its mouth. It looks really cool. Just look at its appearance — it resembles a modified version of a minion. You can meet it mainly in large and medium camps (which we will tell you about in the next section).

In some locations, it may spawn in a rare form — with a chicken on its head. If you meet it, consider yourself very lucky. It has a large attack radius, but killing it is not a hard task. It drops a large amount of skin, so there is a good reason to kill such a mob.

We would also like to reveal to you a little secret. You can feed a goblo beetroot, and this mob will fall asleep. Moreover, you can feed both one mob and all at once, so it will be much easier to get into a dungeon now.

Garch

The next mob on our list is the garch called for to guard the dungeons, attacking players and all other creatures with a bow. It is dressed much better than the standard gobs and is most often found in medium camps, in large camps, and on castle walls. It resembles an ant, as it is small and agile.

If you come close to it with a shield, a garch will start running away. As soon as it reaches a safe distance, it will immediately attack you with a bow. So, the best tactic for you is to use a crossbow or bow to kill these mobs at a long distance, especially if there are a lot of them.

Goom

The goom in Minecraft is an interesting and uncommonly looking mob with a bomb on its head. We should warn you from the outset that it can detonate this bomb, thereby creating a smoke screen. And while in an open area and without support, it does not really effective, in fortresses and dungeons, it completely covers the entire territory below with fog so that you will not be able to see small garches or gobs attacking you from all sides.

You can only find it in the castles and only in large quantities. When it explodes, you will see a wasted fuse on its head. It is small, so it will be not easy to hit it in close combat. But its health reserve is also small, so if you instantly kill this mob with a bow or sword, the bomb will not explode. It drops gunpowder and leather.

Hobgob

The hobgob mainly spawns in large camps and castles alone and immediately attracts players' attention. It is quite large compared to all the above mobs; however, it is the only creature that does not immediately assault the player.

Hobgobs love delicious food, so they constantly move and kill cows and sheep around them to get meat. So, they attack the player only if there is no one left around. If you kill a hobgob, you will get a small amount of skin, iron, and emeralds. It doesn't inflict much damage, but due to the large melee attack radius, it's not that easy to kill it.

Gobber

Let us proceed to the interesting defenders of fortresses in the Goblins and Dungeons mod in the form of an elite squad. The gobbers spawn in a castle and can be both near it and at the most important posts, say, a bridge connecting two rooms. They move slowly but can boast a large health stock, so it will not be that easy to kill them. Moreover, they inflict huge damage on the player, so if several gobbers attack you, it is better to kill them from a long distance.

They are equipped with swords, are of small stature, and have a pleasant appearance. But there are other types of gobbers, which use crossbows. They can hold towers above, so they attack purposefully and often hit the target. They drop only weapons: a sword or a crossbow.

Mimic

The mimic is surely familiar to you thanks to other games, but the developers have also decided to add it to Minecraft. It spawns in chests located in various dungeons or fortresses. So, there is a certain chance that you come across a mimic while checking loot in boxes. And it doesn't reveal itself until you get close to a chest.

As you get close, a mimic will immediately begin to harshly attack; to stop it, you will need to quickly strike back. It drops a large amount of valuable loot, including unique rings that give certain advantages and effects (this will be described below).

Ogre

Let's take a look at the first and only mini-boss in this mod, the ogre. It immediately impresses players with its appearance, and not without reason. It is about 2 times taller than the player. Don't try to attack ogres in melee, as this is useless. These mobs have a large attack radius, and it is almost impossible to get close to them. Moreover, an ogre will at times also throw you up, as golems do in Minecraft.

An ogre can kill the player in 2–3 strikes, so if you let it get close, your death is inevitable. You should kill it from a long distance, using crossbows and bows. It can impose the Weakness II effect, which is also disadvantageous to the player. If you kill an ogre, you get a little amount of experience and a unique ingredient for potions — Ogre Tusks. With this item, you can brew the Potion of Ogre's Might, which allows you to inflict extra 3 damage with one blow.

By the way, thanks to this potion, if you use a netherite sword, you will be able to kill most mobs of the Goblins and Dungeons with one blow. It can even be improved with the help of the glowstone dust or redstone. However, the Slowness effect is imposed on the player, reducing the speed by 10–20%, depending on the potion's level. There is another little secret to know: if you hang a tag with the name Shrek on an ogre, it will indeed turn into Shrek.

Goblin King Boss

The last mob in our list is the Goblin King Boss, which lives only in the castle. It has 75 HP, which is slightly less than the health stock of an Ogre (100 HP), but it is just as difficult to kill as other dangerous Minecraft mobs. It runs and jumps very fast, so it is hard to fight it. It uses a staff to attack, casting green balls at the player. They impose the Slowness and Weakness effects on you and drain your health.

The Goblin King Boss attacks successively. At first, it will try to shoot until it hits, then will move back to a long distance for a while, and after that, continue fighting you. It is difficult to dodge its shots, but this is still possible. You should kill it at a distance using a bow or crossbow. Generally speaking, in Goblins and Dungeons, many mobs are easier to kill with a bow. Other creatures can sometimes spawn near the king, constituting its retinue, as it were. It can include a garch, a hobgob, or a gob and is usually of 2–4 creatures.

As soon as the king's health level becomes 50%, its teleportation ability is activated, similar to the one of Endermen. But this happens only if it attacks you in melee. When the king is killed, it drops a golden crown, which is a unique artifact that gives you a special skill — it automatically imposes the Weakness II effect on all surrounding mobs within your sight. After that, most goblins will not be able to inflict serious damage to you, and ogres will see 50% worse, so you will be able to get closer to them.

Unique Rings

A mimic drops several types of rings as the loot, each with specific effects. There are 4 types of them:

Ring of Glory. After killing a goblin of any level, your health will be automatically restored. Accordingly, the more mobs you kill, the faster you recover due to the ring.
Ring of Stealth. Use the Shift button so that opponents do not notice you at close range. It will not be possible to disguise completely, though, but you at least will be able to get closer to them. You should use it with the king's crown to kill ogres.
Ring of Experience. All the experience you pick up will increase by 1 point. Thanks to this item, it will be possible to gain experience many times faster when cleaning dungeons.
Ring of Health. It automatically adds 1 more heart to your health bar, so instead of 10 points, you will now have 11. This will not help much in battles against strong mobs, though.

You can get all these items in creative mode, so you can try them in singleplayer mode by installing the Goblins and Dungeons mod of the recent version.

Dungeons and Castles

However, the most interesting content of this mod is related to various dungeons and castles where all the above goblins live. There are 4 types of locations:

1. Small Goblin Camp;

2. Medium Goblin Camp;

3. Large Goblin Camp;

4. The Goblin King's Castle.

Let us briefly consider each of them.

Small Goblin Camp

A few gobs usually spawn here, which are the simplest and easy-to-kill goblins of this mod. You can find such locations in almost any grassy biome like any other dungeon. You can also find a chest there, but its loot is the most basic.

There are also urns, which are a kind of loot chests, but they can be taken using the silk touch enchantment. If you break it with an ordinary pickaxe, you will just get loot at the place. Sometimes, they generate right next to the trees that partly constitute the location.

Medium Goblin Camp

It is a bit more complex in terms of structure than the small camp but is still quite simple. Besides gobs, you can also meet garches and goblos there, as well as find several chests and an urn. It is very easy to clear such locations, especially if you attack at a long distance or while being fully equipped.

Large Goblin Camp

This dungeon has two floors, although the location itself is a ruin partially resembling bastion remnants in Minecraft. Besides all the above mobs, you can also meet a hobgob there. On the first and second floors, you will find double chests and several urns with more valuable loot.

The Goblin King's Castle (Ruined Keep)

The most interesting location is the goblin king's castle, where you will see all the goblin types and spend a lot of time cheking all its rooms and collecting loot. The castle looks really cool, like in the Stronghold game series. It can boast various towers and bridges, where mobs are constantly on duty, including at the entrance.

The structure itself is rare. However, you can also come across ruined keeps in most grassy biomes. Their gates are closed by default, so you will have to blow them up or break them to enter. But the gates are guarded by gobbers and gobs, so you will have to put a lot of effort into eliminate them all.

The king usually sits on the second floor. You will see a relevant caption (Goblin King) on the screen when approaching the castle, indicating the presence of the boss. It is not difficult to defeat it, but you will first have to fight with the entire army and spend a lot of time checking various rooms, collecting loot, and climbing up. The emerald blocks will spawn there, and there are separate hidden rooms there with gold blocks and other precious resources, along with a dozen urns and chests.

Besides all the mobs and dungeons, a new block with different variations will be added to Minecraft — scoria (dark volcanic rock). Its structure is in many respects similar to the blackstone but still differs in terms of appearance and unique textures.

Achievements

This mod about goblins has its own system of achievements, for example, for killing certain mobs, mining unique artifacts, finding dungeons, and other activities. So, there is an additional opportunity for fans of achievements to prove themselves, get a nice reward, and just have fun during these activities.

We have described all the content available to players in the game after installing the Goblins and Dungeons mod. The developers have also provided console commands to quickly teleport to the selected dungeon, so you will have no problems finding the appropriate location even in creative mode. You can also quickly spawn any mob with the help of a spawn egg.
